Bio

Taiwo Odunlami is a multi disciplinary artist based in Toronto, Canada.

The main practice of my work focuses on ephemeral installations.I express my work through visual, sonic and digital systems. A lot of my work is based on the senses and how we experience life. My aim is to express various human experiences using the different senses.

One of the main senses I work with is sound. I create soundscapes, music and other forms of sound art. My goal is to express various emotions,scenes and textures through sound in a way we can feel, taste,and see through hearing.

I use technology in my practice as a way to translate various sensory information.Technology gives me the ability to get this information and translate them into other senses or enhance its perception,through programming. Allowing me to use the different ways we perceive our world to expand our perception of our senses. The goal is to make the viewer more in tune with our world, present,acknowledge ourselves and everything around us.

Furthermore it gives me the ability to make my installations easily interactive. Just like we interact with our environment by existing in it. I strive to create a space where interaction is as seamless.

A lot of my installations focus on interactivity and trancisence.I like to experiment with different techniques to achieve these goals.

The main goal of my installations is that it brings together strangers,friends and family in the community to create art together.

To show us how we affect one another consciously and unconsciously as long as we exist on this earth. The little things we do matter. We are one big community of humans learning to coexist with ourselves and others around us.

Creating together allows viewers to feel connected thereby opening up space for discussion. It's like an icebreaker in a society that is very disconnected.

These types of installations create easily shared experiences that are intangible.

 I EXPRESS VARIOUS LIFE EXPERIENCES USING THESE ART FORMS.

Always experimenting with new techniques, I'm equally comfortable with analog and digital technologies, and use both according to the needs of the project.
